The book is a “Liber Amicorum” dedicated to the research work of Gianluca Spina, Professor of Business Management and Supply Chain Management at the Department of Management Engineering of the Politecnico di Milano. The book collects seven of his most relevant articles published in renowned international journals. Each article is accompanied by the original comments of important international scholars in the field, as well as colleagues and friends of Gianluca Spina, who with their contributions have sought to extract the key messages and values he wanted to convey. Values that remain relevant even years after their publication.
The selected articles offer a clear sense of the research path undertaken by Gianluca Spina in Italy and abroad over the years, and cover the main areas of study that characterized his work. These were also chosen for their high impact, as evidenced by the numerous citations received. An introductory chapter relates his research to the main developments in the field of Manufacturing and Supply Chain Strategy and outlines the significant contribution Gianluca Spina made to Management Education. his research with the main developments in the field of Manufacturing and Supply Chain Strategy and outlines the significant contribution Gianluca Spina made to Management Education.
The volume, part of the Business Management and Organization Series published by Mondadori University, introduces project management. The topic of project management originated in ancient times, but today it is no longer of interest only to those working in construction or plant engineering sectors; it is a fundamental pillar for anyone involved in management within an organized context.
Today, the project has become a new way of conceiving work, organization, and people management. For this reason, this text addresses project management from different perspectives, allowing anyone working on projects or wanting to learn how to do so to select the relevant methodological aspects for their case.
The book, part of the Business Management and Organization Series published by Mondadori University, addresses the topic of decision-making processes within complex organizational contexts, one of the fundamental pillars for those who perform or aspire to perform the challenging role of a manager. Learning to make ‘correct’ decisions is a difficult and perhaps endless journey, requiring some basic skills that can hardly be learned only in the field. Naturally, direct experience is irreplaceable and is required to become a complete manager. For these reasons, this text is aimed both at those who want to approach this discipline for the first time and at those who have long been operating in the managerial field and want to rationalize their experience.
Numerous topics in the text are inspired by the work of Gianluca Spina contained in the book ‘Business Management‘.
Business processes, or the sequences of activities, decisions, and events that enable the company’s products and services to be realized, represent the heart of organizational functioning. Business processes contribute to creating output for the customer, finalizing the activities carried out by the company to ensure expected performance, determining both efficiency and effectiveness. Adopting process management requires a radical change in the company, which needs adequate knowledge and tools. This book provides both theoretical concepts and practical examples, presenting a complete and structured methodology for business process redesign, useful for both university students and managers who want to lead change projects.
The book leverages the potential of the digital platform Pandoracampus. With contributions from Fabrizio Amarilli, Luca Gastaldi, Margherita Pero, Alberto Pozzi.
